It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jamey Hackett, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, on July 16. Jamey’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Jamey was a proud graduate of Rutherford B. Hayes High School and the University of Dayton. He was a devoted father and husband to his wife, Jessica, and their children Jameson and Jack, who were the center of his world. Beyond his family, Jamey was deeply connected to his community, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
As an athlete, Jamey excelled in football as a kicker for Hayes Varsity Football, a role in which he made lasting friendships and was known for his strong work ethic and sportsmanship. Jamey was also an integral part of the Central Ohio Volleyball community, where his spirit, enthusiasm, and generosity earned him the love and admiration of all. His ability to light up every room he entered, and his commitment to helping others, made him a staple of his volleyball family for years.
Jamey co-founded SweeetCo, a venture that reflected his passion for entrepreneurship and his desire to make an impact on those around him. He was a man of many talents, all of which he used to better the lives of others. His impact was not confined to his business ventures or athletic endeavors—Jamey’s heart and soul were embedded in the relationships he built, and he was known for always being there for others, whether through a listening ear or a helping hand.
The outpouring of love and support from his friends, family, and his military family during this tragic time has been overwhelming. It is a testament to the incredible person Jamey was and the profound effect he had on the lives of others.
In his passing, Jamey leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed by his wife Jessica, their children, his parents, siblings, and countless friends.
